Sharing your information

We do not sell any of your personal data to any third parties. However, we do share your data with a select few companies and third parties in order to complete your contract with us and provide you with the best possible service. These include:

  • Our trusted partners that get your order to you – this includes our order delivery companies
  • Marketing agencies, social media platforms and similar platform services who help us get our products in front of the right person
  • Third party service providers who help us perform our services and business activities
  • Law enforcement and fraud prevention agencies
  • Professional advisors (for example lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers) who are based in the UK to provide advisory services to us.]
  • Third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer or merge parts of our business or our assets with. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or merge with them. If a change happens to our business, then the new business may use your personal data in the same way as set out in this policy.

Marketing – email and SMS

We only use your information for marketing to you via email or text when specific consent has been provided by you agreeing for us to do so, i.e., you have ticked the subscription check box at checkout.

You can unsubscribe from SMS or email marketing communication at any time by:

  • Updating your preferences in ‘My Account’
  • Clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link in an email, to unsubscribe from email marketing
  • Contacting our customer service team
  • Replying STOP to an SMS marketing communication to stop receiving SMS marketing communications

You will need to unsubscribe from email and SMS marketing separately if you no longer wish to receive any marketing communications from us

We may also show you The Entertainer or Early Learning Centre adverts when browsing other websites. We do this to help you easily find the products you may like.

The adverts you see will be based on information we hold on you or your previous use of TheToyShop.com or ELC.co.uk – this means you may see products you have previously browsed or promotions we think you’ll be interested in.

Marketing – Advertising to you on social media

We may share your email address (usually in an encrypted or ‘hashed’ form) with social media platforms and similar platform services (such as Facebook and Google) so that they can try to 'match' your data with the data of their users. Where there is a successful match, we then may display adverts for our products to you when you use the platform (e.g. on your Facebook newsfeed). This is known as “custom audience” advertising.

We may also share some basic data about you with social media platforms and other services such as Facebook and Google to find other customers who 'look like' you - this is known as 'look-alike' audience advertising and means that the platform can find and show our adverts to other users of its platform who have similar interests to you.

The data we share for these purposes is always obscured to protect your identity and is quickly deleted.

You can opt-out of social media advertising directly on the platforms themselves, or at any time by contacting us at MyData@TheEntertainer.com.

If you choose to opt out of social media advertising by contacting us, we will action your request as soon as possible, but this may take up to 4 days.

Your data, your rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the information held on you
  • Correct the information we hold on you
  • Have the information we hold on you deleted

In order to act upon one of your above rights, or if you just have a question, please write to:

Legitimate interests

Under GDPR data law there are a number of lawful reasons for us to use (or 'process') your personal information. One of the lawful reasons is called 'legitimate interests'. Broadly speaking Legitimate Interests means that we can process your personal information if:

  • We have a genuine and legitimate reason and we are not harming any of your rights and interests.

Some typical examples of when we might use the approach are for preventing fraud, digital marketing, maintaining the security of our system, data analytics and enhancing, modifying or improving our services.

As ever, you can opt-out at any time.

Other websites

Our website and marketing communications may contain links to other websites run by carefully selected partners. We’ll make it clear you’re visiting a partner website before you click.

We don’t run these websites so we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting them. Please look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question before supplying any personal details.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to collect information. A cookie is a piece of text which asks permission to be placed on your computer's hard drive. Once you agree, your browser adds that text in a small file.

Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences. For example, a cookie makes it easier to shop by remembering your email address so you don’t have to re-enter it each time you visit.

Cookies also enable us to check which pages are the most popular on the site and how visitors use our site. A cookie does not give us access to your computer.

The 'help' menu in most web browsers will tell you how you can be informed when you receive a new cookie or how to disable cookies altogether. However, we recommend that you leave cookies turned on as they allow you to access some of the most useful features of TheToyShop.com and ELC.co.uk. For a list of all cookies that we are currently using, please click here.
