One of the first things we start when teaching toddlers is colours & shapes. They pick this up easily though play. Recognizing shapes is actually a key skill needed for reading – because letters are simply shapes with a specific meaning. It’s not until children are around three that they really start to understand colours.
Toddlers like to learn through touch, sound and play, so find some toys that they love to play with colours. The Colour & Sort Fruit game is wonderful for starting out on separating colours, and as a bonus helps with counting too!
