Great for your child's development:

The Wooden Trike and Trailer is a great way for your child to get exercise at the same time as having fun. Learning how to push themselves along helps your child develop the strength, balance and coordination they'll need for walking, running and cycling. And as they grow they'll love being able to choose which direction to go in, giving them a healthy sense of independence.

ELC star quality:

We love the Wooden Trike and Trailer because of its traditional look and design, with its chunky solid wood and bright colours. It's really built to last, and will provide hours of fun as your child races up, down and all around with their favourite possessions in the trailer.

What you need to know:

-Contents: 1 wooden trike with detachable trailer.
-Adult assembly required.
-Not to be used by children over 36 months due to insufficient strength.

Playing tips:

Three-wheel freedom
Let's sit on board, hold on tight and aim straight ahead. Mum and Dad can push us along, or we can use our feet. Let's GO GO GO – at last we're free to go anywhere we want.

Roam the world
We can drive our trike indoors. Or we can drive our trike outdoors. There are so many new places to explore. We can ride all day, or until our legs are tired. We can always carry some drinks and snacks in the trailer to keep us going.

Trailer of treats
We can load and unload our toys in the trailer. We can give rides to our teddies. Or we can 'help' Mum and Dad around the house. Or we could just go ROUND AND ROUND the garden.

Great for:

Finding new freedom
Getting Mum and Dad to push us along
Carrying all our toys
Discovering lots of new places.

I bought this tric for my one year old grandson about six months ago. Since then his mum can't get him off it! I now have to buy another for his youger brother to avoid fights over it.

A strong and durable product made from quality materials but you need patience and invention when fitting the spring washers on to the axles. I had to slightly depress the flanges on the washers with a thin pair of pliers before lining them up squarely and carefully tapping them on using the wooden tool provided. A pain but worth it see my one year old grandson enjoying the product.

A couple of previous reviews mentioned the very fiddly metal "end caps" required to hold the wheels on - these are almost impossible to get onto the ends of the axels. The wooden "tools" supplied to help you do this are not at all adequate. One previous reviewer managed it with a hammer (I'm impressed), another gave up and took it back to the shop (I don't blame him). However, after much messing about I came up with a trick that helped considerably - use a pair of dolphin nose pliers to push each of the metal teeth in slightly. This then allows you to get the end cap onto axel just enough to stay in place. You can then use the wooden "tool" to apply more pressure and insert the axel fully. With this problem overcome, the rest of the construction is pretty straight forward. In a few places the design/machining quality was slightly sub-optimal but with a bit of pushing a few bangs with the hammer I fits okay. I know I've mostly dwelt on the problems, but overall the toy is fun and seems pretty robust so not a bad buy for the price.

This may be great when constructed but I agree with another review, putting the wheels together with the silly little wooden tool that they provide is near impossible. I too am pretty practical and have put masses of furniture together and am happy to build shelves etc, but this wretched thing has defeated me and is back in its box ready to return.

The trike and trailer is sturdy and colourful toy suitable for the age group described. My grand daughter will have lots of fun riding the trike and filling and emptying the trailer! Good value for money.

Here’s a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Wooden Trike and Trailer

  1. A shopper asked on
I have just bought and constructed one of these trikes, are they supposed to wobble a bit on the rear axle?
    1. Alison replied on
Customer Care Team Early Learning Centre

      Thank you for your query,

There should be a certain amount of movement at the rear of the trike to enable the wheels to move, if you are concerned that this movement does not appear to be normal, please take the trike into any of our Mothercare stores where a member of staff will be happy to check this for you.

  2. A shopper asked on
Are the wheels made of plastic or wood?
    1. jon replied on
Customer Care Team Early Learning Centre
The wheels are made from Plastic.
  3. A shopper asked on
How durable is it for outdoor use? The wheels look like they are made of just wood and worried it is going to get worn out and scratched/scuffed very quickly when she uses on the concrete path in the park?
    1. Fiona replied on
I'm sure if you didn't leave it out it would be fine, Ava has used it indoors only though.
