Great for your child's development:

The Wooden Trike and Trailer is a great way for your child to get exercise at the same time as having fun. Learning how to push themselves along helps your child develop the strength, balance and coordination they'll need for walking, running and cycling. And as they grow they'll love being able to choose which direction to go in, giving them a healthy sense of independence.

ELC star quality:

We love the Wooden Trike and Trailer because of its traditional look and design, with its chunky solid wood and bright colours. It's really built to last, and will provide hours of fun as your child races up, down and all around with their favourite possessions in the trailer.

What you need to know:

-Contents: 1 wooden trike with detachable trailer.
-Adult assembly required.
-Not to be used by children over 36 months due to insufficient strength.

Playing tips:

Three-wheel freedom
Let's sit on board, hold on tight and aim straight ahead. Mum and Dad can push us along, or we can use our feet. Let's GO GO GO – at last we're free to go anywhere we want.

Roam the world
We can drive our trike indoors. Or we can drive our trike outdoors. There are so many new places to explore. We can ride all day, or until our legs are tired. We can always carry some drinks and snacks in the trailer to keep us going.

Trailer of treats
We can load and unload our toys in the trailer. We can give rides to our teddies. Or we can 'help' Mum and Dad around the house. Or we could just go ROUND AND ROUND the garden.

Great for:

Finding new freedom
Getting Mum and Dad to push us along
Carrying all our toys
Discovering lots of new places.

I bought it for my grandson for Christmas, 2 months before he turned 1, which is the recommended age. He very quickly learned how it should go and had managed to propel it on his own before he turned 1 last week. It is a good size so he has no trouble putting his feet on the floor. It is also very sturdy and I imagine he will continue to use it for many years.

Wheels are difficult to put on, a number of reviewers in the past few years have made the same comment but nothing has been done to change the design

A well made, sturdy toy which could be used indoors or outdoors. Very easy to assemble with understandable picture instructions.
The wheel retaining caps need a lot or force to fit to the axles, a woman may need some help in doing this part.

Nice sturdy wooden trike that will last for years. Love the colours too. Clear instructions on how to put together.
Like others have mentioned, getting the wheels on is not easy. We managed by holding the wooden tool supplied in place and giving it a good whack with a mallet.

Sorry to say but the item was flawed. The connection rod between buggy and cart was not fixed properly. And since I needed it for Christmas, I had to fix it myself.

Colourful toy bought for grandson's first birthday. Seems good and sturdy, looking forward to seeing him play with it.
The assembly diagrams were clear.
Putting the wheels on! We were very grateful for the tips given by other reviewers. We found that a bit of blu-tack helped hold the axel caps steady on the wooden tools while we tapped them in place.
Definitely need 2 types of screwdriver, hammer and thin-nosed pliers (these are not mentioned in instructions).

Here's a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Wooden Trike and Trailer

  1. Lydia asked on
What is the max weight my son is one years old but is over 32lbs it only says up to three years.
    1. Bobbie replied on
I don't know what my four year old grandson weighs but he loves playing on his brother's trike. I think it is only leg length that stops them being able to ride it rather than weight.
    2. JENNIE replied on
I concur with previous remarks. My grandson is 18 months but nearly as big as my 30 month grandson. Very sturdy but leg length will determine how long they can use it for
  2. Katrina asked on
Is it suitable for use on grass or is it like a lot of these 'outdoor' toys that actually don't really work when used outdoors? My concern is the wheels.
    1. Jat replied on
We have only used it indoors, and to be honest, it's prob best left an indoor toy. The wheels are not too grippy for use on grass, and uneven ground causes the traitor to detach. Hope that helps.
  3. Lindie asked on
What is the seat height from the floor?
    1. John replied on
The bike is with my son and his daughter, in their house. But, I would estimate it to be about 25 cms (10 inches)
  4. rachel asked on
Does the trailer at the back come off?
    1. Bobbie replied on
The trailer is easy enough for a 1 year old to remove and put back on.
    2. JENNIE replied on
I agree with Bobbie. The trailer is easy to put on and off for a child.
  5. A shopper asked on
I have just bought and constructed one of these trikes, are they supposed to wobble a bit on the rear axle?
    1. Alison replied on
Customer Care Team Early Learning Centre

      Thank you for your query,

There should be a certain amount of movement at the rear of the trike to enable the wheels to move, if you are concerned that this movement does not appear to be normal, please take the trike into any of our Mothercare stores where a member of staff will be happy to check this for you.

  6. A shopper asked on
Are the wheels made of plastic or wood?
    1. jon replied on
Customer Care Team Early Learning Centre
The wheels are made from Plastic.
  7. A shopper asked on
How durable is it for outdoor use? The wheels look like they are made of just wood and worried it is going to get worn out and scratched/scuffed very quickly when she uses on the concrete path in the park?
    1. Fiona replied on
I'm sure if you didn't leave it out it would be fine, Ava has used it indoors only though.
