Great for your child's development:
Getting into character and enjoying roleplay is an excellent way for your child to expand their imagination and enjoy really rewarding pretend play. Roleplay helps children build communication skills and learn social skills. Researchers also think enjoying imaginative play helps children learn to think well, which is so useful later on at school. The cash register also encourages your child to enjoy counting, and try some simple sums when they're running the café, or waiting for their change as the customer.

ELC star quality:
We love this tea shop because it offers such a rich menu of imaginative play for your child. As café owner, your child can enjoy baking treats, making a menu, taking orders, chatting with customers, making bills, and working the cash register. As wooden tea shop customer, your child can choose what they fancy and pretend to eat and drink cookies and tea! It's a lovely open-ended toy, which leaves your child in charge. Involving Mum, Dad, friends or teddies makes it even more exciting and rewarding.

I found that in a number of places the holes drilled in the product were in the wrong places, so that I had to drill new holes. I was not able to get the oven door to hang straight. Given that I only assembled this the night before my daughter's 3rd birthday (we do not have space in our flat to store it anywhere where she wouldn't see it once it was out of its box) I was not able to return it or get a new one. Also the canopy seems flimsy and liable to break if handled at all roughly. It was also badly finished, with chips to the paintwork / transfers. I will not make the mistake of spending £80 at the ELC again! I've never had this problem with IKEA. On the plus side, my daughter loves playing with it, and she is not aware of the problems I had assembling it.

We bought this for our daughter's 2nd birthday. Really lovely wooden product, and she's had hours of fun playing with it already. Baking in the oven and pretending to serve cakes and tea. The only down side I would say was the assembly. It took several hours, because the instructions were missing 2 pages! Really good toy for imagination and play.

Bought this for our 5 year old grandaughters birthday. Tooks hours to put together. The wood split several times when inserting the screws. Thank goodness for superglue. Felt the quality was inferior for ELC.
Having said that our 5 yr old and her 2 yr old sister loved playing with it

I got this for half price and it's amazing , easy to assemble and really good quality.
Our 8,4 &1yr old all love it .
The other review must have been a bad batch as we had no problems !!! , personally I wouldn't pay full price as very little is included , it was worth the price I paid though .
Only thing I think needs changing is the oven door should open from the left !! And it would be great if it included a bit more maybe have a teashop accessories set to buy ?! .
Overall every child (and mummy) should have one .

We purchased this product along with other items for a parent and toddler group which we run.

We have always purchased ELC products as we have found them to be of good quality and long-lasting.

A real shame about this one as the children love it!

Specific problems are:

When building this product we noticed that some of the pre-drilled holes were out of line and this made assembly difficult.

The feet immediately fell off due to the screws being of an insufficient length making it unstable and potentially dangerous.

The wooden uprights holding the canopy split.

The oven door was oversized and required one edge plaining down to fit.

Generally the finish was poor.

On hearing of these problems ELC immediately sent a replacement which has just been assembled. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

The plastic front of the oven door has cracked.

Hope it's just a bad batch!

ELC Customer Services have been great, but we would have preferred a good product rather than a refund.

Wasn't as bad as i expected to put together. my 7 and 3 year olds love it.
one downside is that the paint scratches easily.
so assemble on a soft scratch free surface.

I think this gift will last her for many years of fun.

She is baking the buns and we added the ice cream set as an extra.

Also it's not too big.

(number of boys and girls refers to those I mind for.)

I bought this item for the children I childmind for, ages ranging from 1 yr to 7yrs and they all love it. The older children enjoy role-playing and the younger children enjoy exploring it, turning the cooker dials, playing with the food and till etc. I chose this one over other kitchens/shops etc as I wanted one that was versitile and this was definetly the right choice - it could be a shop, market stall, kitchen, cafe or resturant, so I feel the children are getting a lot out of it.

I bought it when it was on offer for £50, I don't think it is worth its full price at £100 due to the fact it is quite basic in the way of gadgets and accessories. Mine arrived in excellent condition and its sturdy, however I feel it would dent or scratch easily - especially as mine will be used more than one that was for 1 or 2 children. My husband put it together fairly easily apart from having to re-drill one of the holes as it was lined up wrong.

Santa got this tea shop for my toddler and I was frankly shocked by the poor quality of this item. The idea is lovely and it has provided fun for my one year old and three year old despite my own concerns with the item.
There were splits, cracks and dings in this item and I had to contact customer service in relation to it.
For £100 it does not reflect good value for money and many more accessories would be expected for the cost - there is only a blue tray wth two cookies.
It does match the previous ELC (and infinitely superior) wooden kitchen and they make a nice set. If the quality was improved I would recommend this but in its current state I would advice against it.

Purchased Tea Shop for two year old daughter and she loves playing shops with her sister, I did buy wooden cakes and lollipops to go with as only has a couple of cookies with purchase. The till is just for show really, does have open and close drawer, which my daughter fills with food.
Think £100 bit steep, but purchased on offer, so more than pleased with. Does take a good two hours to assemble.
