I bought this for my son's 3rd birthday, and 2 years later its still going strong, and its had some abuse from my 18 month old. My son knew how to work it by himself straight away, and has had hours and hours of fun with it, entertaining himself with his Jake and the Neverland Pirates CD, and more recently the Frozen soundtrack on repeat.... I've only changed the batteries twice in all that time. Well worth the money, a brilliant little machine!

Had I known that this would not work with a mains lead, I wouldn't have bought it! Packaging should be clearer and a mains lead should come with the product. I suspect it will be very battery hungry and is not worth £30. I will be returning it.

Nice looking cd player bought for my son. Easy to use but quite pricey for what you get, micophone works on and off and is quite crackly. I can understand why it runs on batteries (safety and being portable) but it would've been good to include a lead with it as an option (we are getting through lots of batteries) Considering the price it is bit dissappointing

The old version of the ELC's CD player was heaps better than this one and lasted much longer too! I bought the old style for my eldest daughter and then the newer one for my twins a couple of years later. The newest one is in the bin and my younger two are now using their older sisters. Cant for the life of me understand why the ELC have changed the style to one that is far less robust and not as easy for little hands to use. It tips over so easily when little hands are trying to put a cd in the front as there is not much depth. PLEASE ELC BRING BACK THE OLD STYLE CD PLAYER, IT WAS FAR BETTER VALUE FOR MONEY AND MUCH MORE SENSIBLE IN DESIGN!

Bought one red and one pink for both my kids for Christmas. 1 year on and the red one's volume control has been dodgy for about 8 months in that it crackles and goes from v quiet straight to loud!, 1 mic doesn't work anymore. Pink one has survived thus far. They feel sturdy enough but aren't really, however fairly average enough. If you want a CD player - you'll get the same for a lot cheaper. I feel they are very expensive for what they do but at the end of the day the kids like them.
My main gripe (which seems to be consistent with everyone else) is the lack of giving you a power supply. They take batteries (not supplied) but they will last you a week tops and for 6 at a go unfeasible as well as non environmentally friendly. I got a couple off tinternet for cheap but for the money you'd expect to get some. Probably though as they are a 9v connection rather than standard 12v which probably means that they are mass produced in the far east and shipped with all the cheaper CD players over....cynical much?
I wouldn't recommend unless your kid wants a pink or red one specifically.

This is a great toy for 2 little siblings ( mine are 18 months and 3 ) but should have main, instead of battery only!
Batteries get used up very quickly and its not fair on the enviroment

Very disappointed to find there was no mains lead included with this CD player. These items use a lot of power and batteries wouldn't last at all and would be a terrible waste of money and resources. I attempted to return it when I received it last year, but for some reason it was never collected and, rather than go through the palaver of trying to re-book the collection, I decided I'd hang on to it because, surely, I could find a lead to fit it. This year I finally dug it out again to give my daughter for her birthday in November. None of our leads would fit, so I sourced a 'universal' one online for about £8. Unfortunately, even with that, we could not get it working - it appeared to start working at one point, but stopped before I could get a CD into it! I haven't tried putting batteries in to be fair, because I don't have any C size batteries and don't really want to buy them for this anyway (for reasons I gave above). The long and the short is, having bought this over a year ago, I can't get it working and am stuck with it. Worst buy ever.

So far we have had four of these and each one has been faulty, the first one did not work when our son opened it on his birthday, the other three have just stopped working two after a couple of months and the last one the day after we got the replacement. The sad thing is that this is one of our sons best toys and as such we have gone back to the shop time and time again to seek a replacement in hope that it starts to work the way it should.

I would not recommend this product as it has just caused a waste of time, money and made a little boy very unhappy

Got this for our daughters 4th birthday and she loves it. Easy for her to use and she enjoys the microphones which are on either side. Can be rather noisy when she is so called singing! along with a cd but it's bearable and if she is happy so are we :) so would recommend especially if your son or daughter likes music, singing and making a noise.
