The second largest rodent in the world, beavers can grow up over a metre long, and can weigh over 30kg. Adapted to life in the water, beavers have evolved webbed toes and flat tails to make them expert swimmers.
Beavers are known for building dams, which protect them from predators in the wild and have an underwater entrance for even further protection. A beaver's dam can unwittingly influence their environment greatly, and have been known to cause floods- however, they also play a part in restoring wetlands and preventing erosion. Once hunted to near extinction in Europe, beavers are slowly growing more numerous in the wild.
Not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts.
