product information

Jitterbugs Game is great fun for little ones. Each player has to catch the trembling creepy crawlies with a magnetic spider fishing rod.

The Jitterbugs Game is great fun for children. Turn the game on to make the bugs jitter all over the garden base. Then each player can use a spider fishing rod to try to pick up bugs one at a time. Each rod has a different-coloured spider on the end, so players try and catch their matching coloured bugs. The first player to catch all of their bugs is the winner. For an easier game, players can rush to try and fish as many bugs as possible. When all the bugs have been caught, the players can count how many jitterbugs they've picked up. This game is good fun for young children to play.

Quick facts:
•Jitterbugs Game is a fun fishing game
•Fish for creepy-crawlies as they jitter
•Pick colours and count up the bugs
•Great fun for children to play together

Great for your child's development:
Using a fishing rod to try and pick up the bugs in the Jitterbugs Game is a fun way for your child to develop good hand-to-eye coordination. Learning how to play a game, and playing with friends or family, are great for problem-solving and social skills. Fishing for different-coloured bugs and counting up the bugs, help with learning colours and counting practice.

ELC star quality:
We love the Jitterbugs game because it's such fun for young children to play. The rules are easy for young children to understand, and trying to fish for the jittery creepy crawlies guarantees lots of giggles. Jitterbugs is a great game to play with family and friends, but it's just as fun for your child to play with it on their own.

What you need to know:

Pack contents: 1 x game base, 12 x jitterbugs in 4 different colours, 4 x magnetic spider fishing rods, 1 x instruction sheet.

Other toys and accessories available separately.

Safety warnings: Not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts.

Batteries: Needs 1 x C battery (batteries not included)

Playing tips:

Let's catch bugs
Let's pick a spider of our own. They're hungry, and they want their tea. Smiley busy bugs are on the menu. YUK! The bugs are munching on pretty flowers, but our spiders are coming to get them: let's play.

Doing the Jitterbug
We can make the bugs shiver, shake and hop around: BZZZZZZ. Let's dangle our spider and jump on the bugs. It's our spiders' favourite time: bug-munching time.

Counting our catch
How many bugs have we caught? Let's count up our bugs, and see who's got the greediest spider. They'll all be hungry again soon, so let's play again. There's no escape for the creepy-crawlies.

Great for:
Fishing fun on a rainy day
Challenging friends and family
Good vibrations and lots of laughter
Speed play – let's fish as fast as we can
Boosting coordination and dexterity
Making spider sounds: hear them CHOMP
Practising counting and naming colours
Making your spider dangle – don't get in a tangle
Two-player tussle, three-player thrills or four-player fun.

I was really disappointed with this game, it initially reminded me of a game I used to play as a child so bought this for my two however, the base pattern is just paper and the picture rubbed off after a few games!

The "jitter" base didnt last long either, my children put their hands on the base a few times and now it has broken. I wouldnt buy this again, I would personally go for something a little more robust and durable for the price.

Both my 3.5 year old and 19 month old are enjoying this game. However, as the 19 month old mastered it within moments I'd say it should be suitable from 18 months as it must be good for this age group's coordination. With my younger child in mind, it's disappointing that the ladybirds aren't in 4 different primary colours as it would have been a fun game to introduce her to colours - not easy when you have dark blue and light blue which will be confusing! All this said, it was still lots of fun!

My 2 year old loves playing this! It's one of the first games she's had so it's really nice to have something simple to all play together. Doesn't go on too long either so there's always time for a game!! She's got the hang of using the rods quite quickly so I think it's been good for her coordination. After a couple of games the vibration slows down though and she can get a bit frustrated with it... telling daddy he needs to fix the batteries!! We got it for a great price though so has still been worth the money. Maybe something they could improve on though!

We brought this in the sale looking forward to a great game but the board after 5 minutes stopped working and is very temperamental and doesn't always vibrate. We returned the first one we brought and found the replacement to be just the same,
An OK game if you only want one go.

Can you please let me know why it has stopped vibrating. We have checked all the parts and there is nothing broken. The round white peg attached to the electric motor is spinning as it should, it connects into a square white receiver but when you turn it on it just spins away, there is no longer any vibration. I cannot tell why the square receiver doesnt work any more. Can you please help?

My 3 yr old brings this out to play with me at least once a day (normally more). He enjoys fishing. You can teach counting and colours with this so its not just a little game. No problem with the board buzzing but had to glue one of the spiders together as the bottom piece with the magnet kept falling off, now good as new. Its a very pretty looking game

Children from 1 to 5 enjoy this game in our house (plus the adults!) Great fun. The bugs move slowly when they are all on the board at the start of the game but this does mean its not as frustrating for younger ones.

Really good fun
