Great for your child's development:

There's lots of room to play on the Big City wooden rail train table, so not only is it great fun discovering all of the accessories by yourself- it's even more fun with a friend, too. Playing with friends is great for building social and communication skills as you learn about the world, and arranging all of the accessories is perfect for strengthening little fingers and boosting hand-to-eye coordination.

ELC star quality:

We love the Big City wooden train table because not only does it come with a huge amount of accessories, it also features a reversible play mat too- if your little one wants to play with their die-cast cars instead, just switch the board over to reveal a road scene. The built-in storage drawer in the table is also really handy for keeping the accessories safe, helping to ensure nothing gets lost in between play times.

What you need to know:

-Includes 1 x table with reversible mat and over 100 accessories
-Not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts

Playing tips:

Let your trains and wagons explore, leave the engine shed, head towards the bridge and zoom through the station. Decide whether your trains are travelling over the mountain or through it. Pass under the clock tower and ring the bell whilst you're there. If you've changed your mind which way you're travelling use the turn table.

Great for:

-Playing trains whenever you like
-Driving, zooming and crashing
-Little hands to build and enjoy
-Playing with Mum, Dad or a friend: there's lots of room
-Building confidence through pretend play, keep the track off the floor, store toys neatly in the drawer

Here's a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Big City Wooden Rail Train Table

  1. evelyn asked on
hi, can someone tell me what age range this would be suited to?

    thanks in advance
    1. Margaret replied on
I would think from age 2 to about 7 years although the table is useful for other play activities like construction and puzzles etc so it could still have a useful life until the child reaches 10 years. My 7 year old grandson uses the table for building his Lego City on.
    2. LC replied on
Mine was 3 when we bought it and is now 4, and he uses it every day, for the railway and other playing, and I'd anticipate he will enjoy it for years to come.
  2. Natasha asked on
Is this toy too old for a 1-2 year old. My son is 1 at Christmas so looking for toys for him suitable for this age range as he has too many baby toys.
    1. Jagjit replied on
Its much more suited for an older child as they would not need the constant supervision and allowing them to play independently without the worry of chocking.

    2. Charlotte replied on
We bought this last Christmas for our son who was 1.5 years. I would say he was the youngest I would want him playing with it but he loves it and is still using it daily. You can remove a lot of the small parts and the table can be just used for play.
  3. Michael asked on
Has anyone glued the track into position? I have a feeling my son will take it to bits constantly and I'm worried that we loose parts of the track.
    1. Kev replied on
Good point but No I haven't glued it , don't see why you can't though , probably best to ask ELC if it ok to do. I must admit my little boy is forever breaking the track up and it drives us mad haha.
    2. Lucy replied on
Yes you can glue the track, but in my opinion it may inhibit creative play later on as it cant be changed around
  4. Linda asked on
can children use their own track on the board?
My grandson has a lot of brio type track and he does enjoy building his own track circuit!l
If yes then he'll have this for Xmas this year .

    many thanks L Rose.

    1. Claire replied on
Hi - yes, there is LOTS of track and bridges etc that come with the table, but you can use as little or as much as you want of this, and use your own.The table itself is very handy as you could use it to do all sorts of play. It has an edge all around the sides so that things don't keep rolling off it. The box it comes in is quite heavy - so bear that in mind if you collect it from a shop. It was quite a struggle for me to get it in the car. Hope he enjoys it - my little boy loves it. Best wishes Claire
  5. Hayley asked on
Can anyone tell me the dimensions of this please in cm or inches?
    1. Julie replied on
Will get them for you over the weekend

    2. Julie replied on
      The size is 82,5x117.5
  6. Michelle asked on
My grandson has the Thomas take and play trains the magnetic ones will these trains work on this track?

    1. Melvin replied on
Yes they will work on this
  7. stacie asked on
hi do thomas track pieces fit this and other accessories like the tidmouth sheds.
    1. Darren replied on
      Hi there
I would have thought so as you can take all the pieces off and make it into what ever you want. But I'm not sure if the Thomas train track pieces connect to the pieces you get with the Rail Train Table.
  8. Ann asked on
Can the Thomas the tank engine trains fit on the track
    1. Tracy replied on
Yes they do work on this track. My grandson has these trains and loves playing with them.
    2. james replied on
      The wooden ones will
    3. Christine replied on
I have two that work on the track, but also one a bit larger that won't.
