The locomotive is of good, well thought-out design.

Brought this for my two year for christmas after spending £100 on the train table with track, put the table together on christmas eve, not a problem and love the table. It looks great, then we opened up the train and it was broken, didnt work at all. Was very dissapointed, unfortunately for us we had lost the receipt for the train but luckily still had the one for the train table just incase. We were so dissapointed as we had spent what we thought was a great deal of money on the table and then added the train but what a shame its never worked. We did speak with ELC but they were not prepared to exchange it for a working train as we didnt have a receipt which I can understand. Just very dissapointing that it was broken to begin with,

Unfortunately, it only takes ELC triple A batteries. I have used 5 different batteries, ie: duracell, energiser so forth and none of those have worked. It was only when I took the item into the shop to see if it was faulty that I was informed that some ELC toys only take ELC batteries (apparently the branded batteries are too strong for ELC toys). It would be helpful if this was mentioned on the packaging/instructions and if staff informed customers at point of purchase. So do you think I can get ELC triple A batteries now - no?! My son has not been able to play with this since Xmas day - very disappointing of ELC!! The ratings above are based on what I have seen in the shop when my son has played with them in there.

Here's a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Battery Operated Train

  1. Claire asked on
Does this train work on the Big City train set?
    1. Lynda replied on
I'm not sure what the Big City train set is like. My grand children have a wooden train track and it works perfectly on that one including climbing hills to go over bridges.
  2. Gemma asked on
Where in the train does the additional aaa battery go?

    1. Lynda replied on
You need a small phillips screwdriver and unscrew the funnel - on the top at the front of the engine -
the front of the engine then comes off. Just replace the battery and screw back together again. This battery powers the engine to run on the track.
